R&R Events has been creating, managing and executing corporate and social events for 28+ years in the mid-Atlantic region. Based in Baltimore, our showcase event planning and management skills are spotlighted during events like the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve celebrations at Baltimore’s famed Inner Harbor. Our portfolio includes galas, such as that of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and sporting events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and various events for the Baltimore Ravens.

Ralph Rizzo, President/Founder
Over the years, Ralph has been known by locals as the “Master of Merriment,” “Man Behind the Curtain” and “Ralph, the Sound Guy.” They are all true. Ralph did begin his career in sound and audio engineering but his talents and innate creativity expanded his business into a full-service event planning organization providing everything from concepts and applications in theme décor, with customized backdrops and sets, to organizing sports and outdoor festivals, galas, corporate themed events and unique custom one-of-a-kind builds.
A self-taught carpenter and metal worker, Ralph is a veritable how-to show in the making for designing and creating one-of-a-kind sets and props for client events. He has been recognized by various organizations for his design concepts and he has been featured on local area television and in publications such as the Baltimore Business Journal and Baltimore Magazine. and Whose Wedding Is It Anyway.
A Baltimore native, Ralph executes events on behalf of clients all over the region – from the Baltimore Ravens to various corporate functions, the 1995 Papal visit, celebrity events, White House functions to the Army-Navy gala and festivities. He also makes dreams come true for prom goers, bar/bat mitzvah celebrants, brides (and their mothers!) among others. Ralph is a memory-maker for every generation.
Duct tape in hand, with his muse and faithful Dogo Argentino mix, Marly, and the spirit of Jabo, by his side, Ralph is one CEO who’s not afraid of a little hard work to take every event over the top.
Jill Apperson – Design and Production
Jill came to R&R Events in 2010 with the intentions of being the ‘Director of Operations’, meaning keeping dates, installs and product organized. However, with a background in theater and music, Ralph noticed her creative side, allowing her to lunge at the opportunity of learning the design and production side. Today Jill, as the “Creative Operations Director“, sees responsibilities that include designing, creating and producing the social side of the business, focusing primarily on Bar/ Bat Mitzvahs and Weddings. In addition, Jill, is surrounded by her faithful companions (furry ones).
Laurie Schimmel – Sales and Marketing
Laurie’s experience with R&R Events began as a mitzvah parent in 2012 when she hired R&R Events to design her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. She immediately knew she wanted to join the R&R team! There is nothing she loves more than guiding mitzvah parents through the event planning process to help make their day as memorable and special as possible. From vendor selection to day-of-coordination, Laurie can help you with “everything mitzvah!” Laurie graduated for WVU with a degree in education and spent 20 years in the education field before becoming an “Imagination Specialist” at R&R Events.
Robert “Bert” Golden – Operations
Bert as we all know him, is a friend of Ralph’s from their past life working together at Hammerjacks! He came to R&R Events in 2013. Bert’s past experience working as a DJ, sales, flight attendant and previous positions in the events world, has given him experience to handle the crazy schedules we deal with day-in and day-out. His dedication to clients and staff at R&R Events, has earned him the title of “Events Operations Assistant“. Don’t think that is all he does, his role has continued to grow and expand. As he takes on the abilities to work in the shop as part of the R&R Events Design & Build.
Dulany Banné, Creative Specialist for Making It Sparkle
Dulany is R&R Events “captain” of our Imagination Station – the epicenter within the creative kingdom where centerpiece and floral arrangements, any kind of tabletop design, springs to life from her capable hands. Dulany has a background in Centerpiece Design, Tablescaping and Business Management. Her creative flair is the exciting accent on all the unique designs that have become not only a hallmark for R&R Events, but the thrill of brides, fundraisers and gala event attendees.
